Matt Reeves' 'The Batman' To Take Inspiration From Alfred Hitchcock

Image
Once he is done with promoting War for the Planet of the Apes, Matt Reeves gets to work on DC Films/Warner Bros.' The Batman - which will see Ben Affleck put on the cape and cowl of Gotham's Dark Knight.

Speaking to CNET, while promoting Apes, Reeves revealed what director is inspiring him for the Caped Crusader film.

"For me, point of view is really important," Reeves said. "I want to make sure you are experiencing something from the perspective of the main character in the story. I'm a huge Hitchcock fan -- I like the idea of being immersed in that perspective.

"Movies for me are about empathy. The idea is to make you, the audience, feel what the character feels."

The film itself, will as mentioned before star Ben Affleck as Batman/Bruce Wayne, JK Simmons as Commissioner Gordon, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, and Joe Manganiello as Deathstroke.

It has no immediate release date, but has been rumoured to be coming out sometime in 2019.

The Plans For Spider-Man In The MCU Revealed

Image
In a new article by The Hollywood Reporter, Sony and Marvel Studios' plans for the beloved character of Spider-Man have been revealed.

We first start off with the upcoming Spider-Man: Homecoming film, which will serve as the first entry of a new trilogy revolving around Tom Holland's Spider-Man. Having a $175 million budget, the film was pitched to directors as "a movie as if John Hughes had directed it." And according to THR's sources, the film does indeed feel like that. The film is so much like a Hughes film that it is more aimed for teens than anyone, and that the cast themselves acted on-set like they were a cast from such a film. Jon Watts, the film's director recalls, "Zendaya came up with a really interesting game that brought everyone closer together immediately, where you sit in a circle and you honestly have to tell everyone your first impression of meeting them."

Looking onwards, we have the spinoffs Sony are developing like the Tom Har…

'Han Solo' Anthology Film Loses Directors Phil Lord & Chris Miller

Image
There has been a disturbance in the Force, have you felt it? The upcoming Star Wars Anthology film that will revolve around the iconic character of Han Solo has lost its directors. Phil Lord and Chris Miller have left the film, citing creative differences as the main reason for the exit.

In a statement released this week Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm, said, “Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are talented filmmakers who have assembled an incredible cast and crew, but it’s become clear that we had different creative visions on this film, and we’ve decided to part ways. A new director will be announced soon."

The directors themselves added: “Unfortunately, our vision and process weren’t aligned with our partners on this project. We normally aren’t fans of the phrase ‘creative differences’ but for once this cliché is true. We are really proud of the amazing and world-class work of our cast and crew."

It has been reported by The Hollywood Reporter, that due to Lord an…

Robin Wright's General Antiope To Appear In 'Justice League'

Image
Spoiler warning for Wonder Woman: In the Patty Jenkins-directed Wonder Woman film we are introduced to the idyllic island of Themyscira, and its Amazonian inhabitants most notably Queen Hippolyta and General Antiope. Each are intrinsically linked to the main character of Princess Diana aka Diana Prince aka Wonder Woman, the former being her mother and the latter being her aunt.

We get to see the relationships these characters have in the film, but more focused on Diana and Hippolyta's bond as a daughter-mother connection. When asked about whether we will see more of that relationship from LA Times, Gal Gadot - who plays Wonder Woman - said: "Of course; the mother and daughter relationship is always a beautiful but complex relationship. I think that there's a lot more to explore."

Hippolyta herself, Connie Nielsen, who was already confirmed for Justice League, added: "And [Robin Wright, who plays Antiope and I] got to do more in "Justice League" as well…

Patty Jenkins Not Signed On Yet For 'Wonder Woman 2'

Image
Making north of $220+ million dollars at the film's opening weekend worldwide, Wonder Woman is bound to get a sequel.

But as of right now, one thing is not set in stone, bar the film's lead actress, Gal Gadot, having the option for Wonder Woman 2 as part of her deal with Warner Bros. to appear in several DC films, Patty Jenkins' return has not been finalised.

Jenkins, Wonder Woman's director, has been revealed via The Hollywood Reporter, to only have a one picture deal with the studio not a multiple film one. With that, her role as helmer for the sequel is still in limbo. In all likelihood, Jenkins will be brought in for the film, although at a steep price as her representatives - CAA, Anonymous Content and Jackoway Tyerman - are likely to raise her wage.

In the same line of thinking a sequel to the smash hit film may not be immediately made, as the studio has not only other DC films - The Flash, Cyborg, Green Lantern Corps, and many more - to finance and schedule bu…

'Suicide Squad 2' Aims For A Potential 2018 Shoot Date

Image
Despite receiving less than stellar reviews, Suicide Squad was a profitable film for Warner Bros. so much so that a sequel was more or less a given.

Bar a few directors like Mel Gibson, who have been in talks with the studio to helm the sequel, due to David Ayer - the 2016 film's director - being busy with making Gotham City Sirens, and Legend of Tarzan scribe Adam Cozad being brought into write the project word on the sequel has been relatively mum. However thanks to an interview by The Hollywood Reporter, Joel Kinnaman revealed a few things about the upcoming DC film.

"As far as I know they're writing the script and I think the plan is to shoot it sometime in 2018," Kinnaman explained. "But that could change. I think I'll definitely come back for it.

"Ultimately, I'd love for David Ayer to direct it," the actor continued. "But if he doesn't want to direct it then someone who is great with character and that's able to ground the s…
